Bella Solids Parade

Shruti at 13 Woodhouse Road, is hosting the Bella Solids Parade. Join the fun from 1st - 31st May as Shruti introduces us to 31 beautiful Bella Solids from Moda. I was asked to showcase the Bella solid - Ivory (9900-60).

Bella Solid - Ivory 9900 - 60

This unassuming solid is very versatile. I use it instead of white to soften a quilt. I often combine ivory with reproductions, retros and moderns. The possibilities are endless. Shruti as asked me to choose three complementary solids and three prints for this exercise. These are my choices:

Solids

I chose Scarlet, Pistachio and Robins Egg to create a very bold and interesting combination. Yes, a strange combination but step back and look at the possibilities of these colours to create a fresh, modern, festive quilt.

Prints

I chose three fabrics from the Lovely range by Sandy Gervais for Moda. These solids highlight the main colours in Sandy's designs.

I also pulled out of my stash some fabric from Kate Spain's 12 Days of Christmas for Moda. The chosen solids go beautifully with these prints.

The choices are limitless. So add Ivory to your stash and discover there is a bottomless pit of prints to choose from that go well with the ever versatile neutral.

Over the years Kimberly and her staff have been very helpful in matching solids to complement any fabric from the on-line shop. I now am the proud owner of the swatch card and use it regularly to select the right basic for my quilts.

Moda have just released more solids and can be purchased from the Fatquartershop in pre-cuts.

I love the new oranges, limes and Etchings stone colour. They will all be finding their way into my stash.
