Trying to keep up with the quilting world while I was on holidays, I noticed beautiful scrappy 'trip around the world' blocks appearing everywhere. I am a real sucker for scrappy quilts and I have been drawn in by their intoxicating fumes of random colour and designs - Colourific chaos! I think we have Lucy and Norman to thank for this viral quilt a long.
There is a great tutorial at Quiltville.
Using Splendour 1920 by Bari J for Art Gallery Fabrics and Pure Elements, I will build 24" blocks with rows of plain, HST,QST and drunkard path blocks. Each unit will be 4" finished. Quilt size will be 98" x 98".
I am itching to start this project but alas, I have 2 more to finish this month so it will have to wait.
In the meantime, grab all your scraps and make one. Also, search the ever growing gallery of photos at the Flickr group or search #scrappytripalong on Instagram for inspiration.

I have to keep saying...NO to myself but that does look fun and turns out very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think I am getting sucked in. I have so many orphan fat quarters. I need a good project to use up some of my stash.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're doing this too Jane! It's addictive!
ReplyDeleteYou have taken it to a whole new level. It will be fabulous!

Yours is so lovely! I may need to start one, and using BariJ is simply great. I may just need to pull some Any for this!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeleteI actually had no desire to start this...then you had to show that mock up!!! I love the drunkard's path pieces in there. I have a couple of things I need to do first (I hate having a ton of projects in the works) and hopefully my wrists can stop hurting and I can start on this. I love your version...are you using accuquilt pieces? I know they are bigger than 2.5" but if you do, would you mind hearing how many pieces you used for what size quilt?
ReplyDeleteI love your version!! The inclusion of drunken path blocks take it to a new level. I've joined in and sewn a few blocks.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Love your blocks!!
ReplyDeleteI am aching to jump in this quilt along.
I am almost finished with a couple dear
